SOOOOoooo, I hired Malorie Cooper to clean up my website, migrate hosts, deal with the SSL stuff, and generally consolidate ten years worth of me updating my website in varying ways so that I could have a solid base going forward--and she COMPLETELY REBUILT IT.

The new site looks absolutely stunning. She did the re-design based on my old site and some graphics, but she also made sure it worked well for what it needs to do: collect reader emails and sell books. Every series and book page is powered by a dataset. If I change a variable (title, blurb, link, first chapter preview, etc.) in the data, it gets changed EVERYWHERE.

The new hosting platform, WiX, can also host your own mailing list and is excellent at capturing email addresses. It had already collected a few sign-ups through the new lightbox in the few days between when Mal migrated the site over and I had the time to go plug in my own mailing list host. Super happy with that!

Did I mention how well it all works? And how neat and tidy it is on the back-end? And how a reader can open a chatbox on the website and send a message that gets put to your email? And how the new site email is using a Gmail dashboard which is like a million times better than the Roundcube dash I was using with Bluehost?

I mean, just look at this website. I think I'm in love? There's definitely more pep in my step.

So, in short, if you're looking to get a website sorted out and have everything consolidated in a nice, neat way, and then explained to you, hiring Malorie Cooper and The Writing Wives is a pretty good idea.
